I would like to submit my sad story for consideration for a rolling blunder numbes. Being relatively new to riding, I am often accompanied by my husband who considers himself and experienced rider. Being the newbie he prefers to follow my lead in order to keep a watchful eye on me. On Labor Day of this year we decided to enjoy some of the Memphs weather and go for a short ride. I approached Highway 51 (four lanes) and had gone into 2nd gear to turn left. As I was edging the throttle forward I felt a bump and my acceleration was compounded by a forward thrust. Hubby had not been keeping a safe look out and ran smack dab into my rear fender, scrapped up the left side of my bike and knocked my bike off its tires. I came crashing down on my left side, slide on the asphalt and came to rest with the front fender of his bike supporting the bulk of my bike off the ground. He couldn't move his bike or mine would have come crashing down on my leg. I had to slide out from under my bike (despite the road rash up and down my left arm and left knee) before we could get his bike disentangled from mine. We backed his bike out, lifted mine and between my curses, assessed the damage: ripped saddle bag off bike, tore off left chrome saddle bag supports, broken tail light, dent in fender, bent rear highway (crash) bar, and personal injury. Needless to say, his being a cop, it took him HOURS to admit that if a ticket were to be issued on the accident - he would have been the recipient. The whole incident cost HIM over $800 for repairs (I insisted on new and improved saddle bags, he reshaped the crash bars and saddle bag supports, bought and replaced the tail light. However, I feel I deserve the distinguished honor of a rolling blunder as I had to suffer the pain inflicted by the black top. Respectfully submitted. Shelou
